DBA / Fictitious Business Names
A fictitious business name, commonly referred to as “Doing Business As” or DBA, is when an individual or an entity is doing business under a name other than the individual’s or entity’s own name. A properly registered DBA enables the holder to receive and deposit checks made out to the DBA. A DBA must be registered with the County Recorder and published in a publication of general circulation in the County.
Registering a DBA will not provide any protection from liability or any tax benefits.
